martinů reloaded
.
my first video proper, one that actually set my course off for making video art.
.
situation of two bodies, juxtaposition of a nude and formally dressed one suggests duality of social and psychological, the mirror split may hint at the perception of the self. this is one of the staged works, although - as it became my working method - staged in such way, that it was not precisely to be acted out, rather a situation set up and "we'll see what happens"
created for a group exhibition titled Martinů Reloaded held at the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. an installation was created where all artists shared common constraint of using the same piece of music by Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů. the videos by seven video artists rotated on two projection screens to the same piece of music. as there were three and four pieces by different artists looping on the two projections in the gallery space, the same two videos met only after a long cycle of about half an hour. concept of the installation was created by me, exhibition was curated by Daniel Pitín.
