there is something miraculous that can happens in a perfectly ordinary life, as an apparition of a being from some other world in a perfectly ordinary setting of a subway station.
one of those pieces that sit on my tapes, waiting to happen, edited two years after being shot. one night, san francisco, an absent-minded accordion player. the layered video is a technique that i use to stabilize hand-held footage. very time-consuming. sound layers together with footage. this technique is something like music composition. this is where images are stripped off all possible meanings in the process to be reunited with them on the other side. this is where movement becomes abstract, "where an attempt is made to atomize emotion" (loosely quoting Miroslav Petříček Jr. commenting videos by Martin Arnold).
