an introductory record to stereophonic sound experience from sometime in fifties probably. narration is in czech and introduces new technology in a stiff comedy-like manner. the female actress demonstrates stereophonic quality of a recording by having the male run about looking for her behind doors placed in left and right channels in stereo recording.
mono and stereo recordings of sound have flattened our experience with sound, which we in fact experience in continuous surround. so why listen in stereo, when we can have 40 chaotically connecting speakers? – as that was the number of channels that the add soundsystem connected. this new (or should we rather say re-invented) multi-channel auditory experience paradigm is today something deeply interesting to all musicians and soundartists, which was demonstrated by interest to participate in the installation by so many.
