baker beach

baker beach
year 2005, duration 1:20
footage recorded 24 / 12 / 2004

a simple moment of observation, a concrete video. christmas eve at the Baker Beach in San Francisco about mid-day, four guys sharing a spliff, off-camera. the two channels of the video have been manipulated frame by frame to keep the horizon steady, so their motion is a negative of the motion of the hand-held camera. similar approach has been utilized by many artists already and has also appeared in many other of my videos in various contexts, for example “black angel”, “vestido nuevo” or “the all-seeing eye”.

video is included in collection video concrete vol. 1 containing five pieces made in san francisco recorded over the period of autumn and winter 2004, compiled in 2005.

dear friends, thanks for visiting my website,

most of my work is in the medium of video. this is a random triptych, that selects from all videos presented on my website. i suggest to play around with the volume of the videos and listen to what happens. the box on the right is a commentary to individual video and is displayed when you roll over the video with your cursor. from them you can follow links to see collections of videos that each individual video belongs to. if you want more randomness, hit the reload button.
